Restoration of a Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Suede Bag
This beautiful Bottega Veneta Intrecciato suede bag was entrusted to us to restore its original splendor. Over time and with use, it had lost its luster and showed several signs of wear.
Reported Issues
Upon its arrival at the workshop, the bag presented the following issues:
- Color Loss and Fading: The original green color was visibly dulled and faded in places, particularly on the corners and areas of friction. The bag had a tired appearance and an uneven hue.
- Suede Wear: The velvety texture of the suede was flattened and shiny from use. The grain of the material was no longer visible, giving it a smooth, worn look.
- Stains and Soiling: Darker stains and grime were embedded in the weaving fibers, affecting the overall aesthetic of the bag.
Our Workshop's Intervention (Our Process)
Our team of artisans carried out a complete restoration in several meticulous steps to ensure a perfect result:
- Deep Cleaning: The first step involved specialized dry cleaning for suede. This process gently dislodges all impurities, dust, and ingrained oils from the fibers without damaging the material.
- Custom Repigmentation: After cleaning, we performed a full repigmentation of the bag. A specific suede dye was custom-matched to perfectly replicate the original Bottega Veneta green. The application was done uniformly to give the bag a rich and consistent color.
- Suede Brushing and Revitalization: Once the dye was dry, a meticulous brushing with appropriate tools was carried out. This crucial step helped to lift the suede fibers (the "nap"), restoring its soft texture, velvety appearance, and luxurious feel.
- Protective Treatment: Finally, a waterproofing and stain-resistant treatment was applied. This invisible product protects the suede against moisture and future soiling, thereby extending the life of the restoration.
The Result
The Bottega Veneta bag has been given a new lease on life. The color is once again vibrant and uniform, the suede texture is soft and supple, and all traces of wear have disappeared. It is now ready to be carried and admired for many more years to come.
